Benjamin Sawyer

Player Name

Benjamin Burnham Sawyer (Or "Benny")

Innocent, Well Meaning Janitor

Genre Savvy: Benny has seen that movie. Benny has played that video game. Benny has watched that television series. Eventually, he just saw the writing patterns from said media in real life and let it drive his decision making process, which is actually an admirable trait in some cases in the SCP in that they actually tend to work like in the movies sometimes. It's just that sometimes, he mixes up the genre he's in with the wrong one.

Ethical: Benny's a nice guy. He's the type of person that would go out of his way to please someone, cares about other people, and has a strong connection with his moral standards and humanity. This can be seen as endearing to some, admirable to others, and even annoyingly quaint to the hard-hearted people who have gotten quite jaded, but can just as easily put him to making the wrong choices while dealing with an anomaly.

Unrelenting Optimism: It's rough being in the SCP Foundation. You have a thankless job, do thankless work, put yourself in danger often, and have the life expectancy of an amorous male black widow spider. But Benny is positive that despite this, he's got the best job in the world, even when cleaning up the mess that is made on a regular basis. He is extremely hopeful in everything he does, like a child in an adult body. The downside of this is obvious, but hey. When all seems at it's bleakest, he'll still say that they can make it out of it.

Personal History

Benjamin Burnham Sawyer was born with a father in the U.S. Air Force. He took an interest in his father's work as a jet engine mechanic and theater at an early age, but was decidedly a very unconvincing actor. His mother divorced his father shortly after walking in on him cheating on another woman, and took the teenaged Benjamin to settle down in Los Angeles, California. It was there where it was discovered that he was a talented, if not unmotivated, karate enthusiast and gymnast after having watched a notable martial arts movie and wanting to duplicate the actors. Too unmotivated to bring himself to tournaments and too pressured by his relatives to not put himself in danger to be a stunt actor or a military man, he went into the Job Corps to learn to be a welder and electrician.

When he got out of it, he was hired off to the FBI to maintain the newly organized Unusual Incidents Unit building in [DATA EXPUNGED]. He spent a short time there when [DATA EXPUNGED] was discovered and brought to the facility. SCP Foundation Agents arrived at the scene shortly and discovered that Benjamin was unwittingly the only survivor of an anomalous assault on the building from what is now known as SCP-[DATA EXPUNGED].

He was offered a job or an amnesiac, chose the job, and was shipped off to Site-354 the following morning. And never looked back.

Benny stands at 5'8" with a lean muscled build, is a Caucasian male of Germanic descent, and is commonly seen on the job wearing a shabby gray jumpsuit with his name embroidered over his left chest pocket and a patch on his upper back with the word "MAINTENANCE" written in large block letters. He tends to dress casually when off-the-clock. He never seems to be without his red and white trucker's cap. He enjoys watching movies, working out at the gym, and playing video games on his laptop. He dislikes classical music, spicy foods, and cleaning the paste of what used to be a D-Class off of the facility's flooring.
