Name

Jack Taggart

Power

One Shot One Kill: Taggart's skill with a rifle is second to none. He's received extensive marksmanship and fieldcraft training both from the Foundation and while in the army, not to mention a significant amount of time spent honing his skills in the Western Australian scrub.
Hammered Pair: for 1AP, Taggart can re-roll a failed attack using a rifle-class ranged weapon, ignoring any penalties to his roll.
Precision: A sharp eye and a keen sense of timing let Taggart strike at the most vital parts of a target's body. Prior to rolling a ranged attack with a sniper rifle, at the cost of 1AP, if Taggart beats his target's defense roll, he gains +1 damage for each step he exceeds the defense roll.

Aspects

Killing Is My Business: Taggart has been involved in combat operations with the Foundation for the past five years, not to mention serving with the Australian Army in Afghanistan. He's developed a skillset to match, and tends to remain focused well under stress.
Old Wounds: Over the years, Taggart has amassed a variety of injuries, some of which can still be troublesome from time to time. Most notably, his hearing is shot as a result of long-term exposure to loud noises (and short-term exposure to Jason Dodridge's M60). He has learned to cope with pain quite well, however, and will generally fight through it until the mission is done.
One For The Team: Working at a Keter site isn't the safest of professions, and Taggart has seen more than a few friends killed in action. Though he'll never admit it, he sees himself as being responsible for their deaths by being unable to save them, and will not hesitate to risk his own life to save a teammate's.

Personal History

Born in Western Australia to a military family, Taggart spent most of his childhood on a cattle ranch. After spending two years pursuing various odd jobs around the countryside, at age 20 he enlisted in the Australian Army, eventually serving in Afghanistan as a sniper with 2 RAR attached to Combat Team Spear. Following his honourable discharge after 4 years, he was quickly recruited by the Foundation and assigned to Mobile Task Force Nu-7, a global rapid response force. After several years with Nu-7, he transferred to Area-354.

Miscellaneous

Taggart is pretty tall (over six feet), and fairly wiry, with short dark blond hair. Think endurance runner, not powerlifter. He's accumulated a number of scars in the course of his career, the most apparent being

  • Several hits from an energy weapon on his chest, resembling something between a gunshot and a burn
  • Shrapnel wounds on his back from an ill-advised stunt involving a fragmentation grenade, a giant monster and duct tape
  • A ragged incision on his left upper arm, from field surgery to remove parasitic eggs
  • An ugly tear across his lower abdomen, where he was gored by a monster in Burma, made worse by an infection
