Jayden Eriksson

Player Name

Jayden Eriksson

Learned Machine: Jayden hasn't so much learned tech as she has breathed and lived in it her whole life. This understandably has given her somewhat of an edge when it comes to anything even vaguely related to tech, allowing her to draw out her knowledge faster and to have a larger pool than she might otherwise.

  • It's a UNIX system, I know this!: For the cost of 1 AP, Jayden may draw upon her substantially deep reserves of technological knowledge for a +3 to electronics for one roll.
  • Act On Instinct: For the cost of 1 AP, Jayden can refuse to wait her turn and make maneuvers based on technical skills at the start of the initiative list rather than at her given place. This does not replace her normal turn and can not be used for other purposes. GM's may specify when use of this power is impossible.

Bristly: Jayden is a bit of a prickly porcupine. She has been known to say abrasive things and to have a low tolerance for things she construes as bullshit. This sometimes earns her some enemies but sometimes means she doesn't get caught out by things other people are caught out by.
Fiddly: Jayden spends large amounts of her free time fiddling with things. She takes great enjoyment in peeling systems apart in order to get to their innards and see how they tick (and if that teaches her how to exploit them, all the better). This propensity has the potential to get her into trouble when things were better off not fiddled with.
Realist: Jayden doesn't tend to lie to herself or others about the realities of the situations she finds herself in. Sometimes this helps her react to situations better, sometimes this doesn't let her give herself hope where hope would have been a substantial comfort.

Personal History

A bit of a loner from an early age, Jayden made friends more slowly than other kids and spent more time investigating the world around her. Her father, an electrical engineer with a science background, gladly took the opportunity to get her interested in electronics. From her mother she got an interest in gymnastics, which she would continue to practice throughout the rest of her school and university career and which she attained a reasonably high level in, though she never managed to break through into top level competition. In high school, her parents divorced and she elected to stay with her father. Her interest in computers increased through high school, and there is some evidence this was the beginning of some low-grade hacking for profit which continued into her university career. Despite some misconduct, she graduated high school near the top of her class and continued to a successful computer science degree from Carnegie Mellon university. During university she had the opportunity to branch out from her chosen field of computer science to pursue some multidisciplinary research work, notably some bioinformatics and computational chemistry. Throughout university she became very interested in the field of cyber security, and gradually became a known member of the security community. Following university she found work as a security specialist for the NSA, where she earned a number of commendations for resourcefulness and lateral thinking in the face of time pressures. She was eventually recruited in a more general capacity to work for the Foundation. After some training, she made the transition to field work, where she earned a reputation for alertness and good reactions under pressure. She was transferred to site 354 after working in the field for 3 years.

Tall and lanky, with a fairly boyish figure and a wild, disorderly mop of black hair, Jayden paints a raggedy picture. She can usually be seen wearing cargo pants and black t-shirts or tank tops. She has a number of visible piercings and tattoos, and a number of non-visible piercings and bodywork. If you see her, she's probably frowning. She's also undoubtedly lugging around a pair of headphones. She is curiously fond of masks. Some say she produces some IDM on the side, but confirming such a rumor would be difficult as she wouldn't admit to it.
