Maria Ramirez

Player Name

Maria "Carmen" Ramirez

Energetic mechanic

Sky's the Limit: Ever since Carmen became a mechanic, she's obsessed with upgrading anything she can above and beyond the norm. Optimization saves lives. She'll make anything she touches overperform, and won't be satisfied with it until she does.

Pin Drop: Between police raids in LA and life in the army, Carmen's been left with keen senses, both a blessing and a curse. She picks up on subtle movement and quiet sounds, but she's easily distracted.

Fast Talker: Having had to make excuses for why she was out until midnight or any kind of alibi for the prank pulled on the drill sergeant, Carmen can tell quick lies convincingly. Lacking a need to retell them, back then, she's not as good keeping them up afterwards.

Personal History

Maria Ramirez was born in a small town in Puerto Rico to her single mother, her father having left long before she was born. Her mother, meanwhile, worked as a waitress, barely surviving, but still working up some savings. When Maria hit nine years old, they moved to Los Angeles, where her mother worked at a fast food restaurant.

Maria, around age fourteen, joined a small gang which consisted of most of her circle of friends at school, and adopted the nickname Carmen. To this day, she's still not entirely sure how she got it. The gang participated in only small-time crime, petty thievery and occasional light recreational drug use. That is, until several members murdered a member of a rival gang. Carmen turned them all in, anonymously, and managed to avoid being stabbed after being labeled a snitch long enough to take plenty of engineering classes and two years of informal training with firearms, then join the military.

It was there, in Iraq, that she managed to pull her team out of a dangerous situation by repairing their Humvee just in time to escape a particularly nasty group of militia, demonstrating supreme skill with firearms and repairs, as well as effectively saving four lives, including her own. This earned her a promotion to the rank of sergeant and attracted the attention of the Foundation.

Carmen stands evenly at 5'6" with a medium build and short, messy brown hair. Her eyes are a bit dull, and the irises are brown. She has a snake tattoo on the back of her neck, an outline in black ink. She knows how to sing but nothing beautifully and operatically, and can play the guitar very well. Being born in Puerto Rico, she speaks Spanish fluently, but her English isn't quite the best. Her birthday is October 12th, and she's currently 25 years old.
