Murphy Brendan

Field Psychologist and Ethics Committee Aspirant. Naive but principled researcher.

Aspect 1: "Do right - nothing else." Murphy has a strongly defined moral code based on a merging of humanism, consequentialism, and utilitarianism. SCPs sometimes require terrible actions to control, and he accepts this. However, maintaining the line of doing what it necessary for the preservation of the greater good is a key feature; he will actively interfere with and oppose excesses, lapses, and deviations from ethical norms.

Aspect 2:"Life is short." Murphy has a compulsion to learn, do, and be as much as he possibly can. Working with Euclid class objects has impressed on him the need to fill his life with as much productivity as possible, and to live with his personal philosophy as much as possible. It costs him a lot of sleep, and more than a few friends.

Aspect 3:"Observe." Science begins with observation, NOT hypothesis. Murphy pays attention to seemingly minute details, and finds it hard to look away from something that might be instructive.

Personal History

Murphy Brendan is a summa cum laude graduate of Loyola University of Chicago's Social Psychology graduate program. His thesis on the unexplained breakdown of emergent order theory in certain areas was flagged to Foundation attention when it became clear the locations of his study were known to be related to SCP and Anomalous effects. Brendan was recruited as an assistant researcher shortly after. Four years with the Foundation later, and he's 26 years old, considering pursuing his PhD. Requested field assignment for additional experience pertaining to his desire to apply for the Ethics Committee in the future.

Looking at him, one could be excused for wondering if he understands the idea of food - he's clearly underweight despite an effort to develop his physique with physical effort. He has dark blond hair and green eyes, his hair mostly being a curly mass of ringlets.

Brendan also suffers from migraines, subject to three known conditions - exposure to high frequency sound for more than a minute, exposure to high intensity light for same, or if he fails to observe a minimum of 6 hours of sleep a night for 3 consecutive days.
