Victor "Vic" Casiden

Former Marine Corps Captain

incertus: In his years as a field officer in the Marine Corps, Victor has learned to never be certain of anything immediately. He has seen great losses due to his false sense of assurance and confidence. Because of this, he is now very careful to double check everything, making sure that everything is perfect before he comes to a certain conclusion. This also increases his perception, as he is slow to dismiss anything as unimportant, making him notice small and "unimportant" things. While this helps to limit the possibility for mistake, this second-guessing also interferes with impromptu action and quick thinking.

Bang, Bang: After losing many of those under his command overseas in an explosive (and thus very loud) firefight that lasted for days, Victor has PTSD symptoms that are triggered by very loud and jarring noises. Whenever he is surprised by an unexpected and very loud noise, he gets extremely tense and aggressive. This makes it to where he becomes very dangerous in combat as he funnels this aggression towards an enemy. However, with extremely loud and sudden noises, Victor can succumb to PTSD reaction episodes where he is overwhelmed with stress and freezes up out with uncontrollable rage at whatever he deems is against him, possibly including anyone on his side nearby. This disorder could possibly be helped with the care of a trained psychologist.

Personal History

After graduating from the Citadel Military College, Victor enlisted in the Marine Corps and was deployed to the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. When he started to work beyond the call of duty, he was recommended for officer rank. Victor was accepted and would later ascend to the rank of Captain after years of hard-work. He was considered to be a Marine Corps superstar in both the way that he led his company overseas and in the way that he set a large precedent for those to come. However, after a failure on his part to properly plan for an excursion into a nearby hostile city, 16 of his marines were killed in explosive combat that lasted for days. Victor was not put at fault for this lack of planning, his logistical staff was, but he knew that it was his wrongdoing. The "tough-as-nails" brash personality and confidence in actions held by him previously had dissipated quickly after this and he became much more doubtful and questioning of his own choices. Six months later, an SCP MTF dispatched to deal with an uncontained Keter-class SCP in the region was completely annihilated and the battalion that contained Victor's company was called upon by the Foundation in a desperate attempt to contain it. After they succeeded in containment, the Foundation's attention focused on Victor's company, which had not only suffered no injuries (unlike the rest of the battalion), but also fought with the most skill. Victor was noted to stand out amongst the combat. Victor was offered a position with SCP's Special Task Force Alpha-354, "Poolboys" by the Foundation in March, 2013, due to his performance and he enthusiastically accepted.

Physical Description

Victor is 6'2" (1.88 m) tall and weighs 188 pounds (85.3 kg). He maintains his brown hair in a "high-and-tight" military style. His face is rather unremarkable, with brown eyes and a square jaw, except for two faint, thin scars that run down the left side of his face: one that starts in the top-left of his forehead and ends slightly below the left eyebrow and another that starts one inch below his eye and continues down his face, terminating 1/2 of an inch above his jawline. He has a tattoo of the Marine Corps Emblem on his right shoulder and two tattoos of captain rank insignia on either side of his collarbone.
